It was a pretty sad end, although I don't really see how it could've ended differently, at least not while remaining true to "the genre," whichever genre you think it belongs in.
I disagree! That totally could have fallen under "kooky romantic comedy" in which case they should have ended up together at the end with Captain Hammer being bummed out but understanding her attraction to the smarter and sexier Dr. Horrible. Just sayin'.
no... the only even semi-possible "happy" ending was for Penny to understand that Dr. Horrible was the better man, and to have killed Captain Hammer herself, thus stealing Dr. Horrible's place in the Evil League of Evil and relegating Dr. horrible to the level of being her sidekick... After all, it was a Joss Whedon project...
