just got back to mountain view from the baha'i science and religion conference in south san fran. as i suspected, i found most of it bunk. at least i met some interesting characters.
I went to the conference with my uncle, who is very involved in ABS- California. I mostly found the underlying assumption that reconciliation between mainstream, secular science and religion was necessary at all to be the most unsettling. The way the presentations were structured seemed to water down the science to "fit" the writings of the faith, so the benefit of this reconciliation to science seemed to be nil.
Some aspects of the Baha'i faith seem intriguing (overarching concepts of unity), but I don't see the necessity of any religion for myself.

Everything is so "evolutionary" about the perspectives of the Faith that it can constitute a fit for the biologist, I would think.
