Anchorage Pride
Jun. 28th, 2008 10:08 pmSo much fun! Lots of music and dancing. I ended up staying for only a couple of hours, since it was wicked cold and windy today. I did get an Anchorage Pride t-shirt and a silk "collagraph" print. The print is of an owl on a dark blue background, with the moon and a cup of coffee and a book... it is called "Night Owl." It was just too adorable and I had to get it.
I also signed up to volunteer at the local Democratic Party (via their booth). That will give me something to do in the evenings and hopefully be a venue to meet some like-minded people. Go Dems!
It's amazing how much more political Alaska is than NM. Being a major resource extraction site really does up the ante for local politics and corruption. Apparently tons of state legislature members/governors etc have been charged with corruption relating to oil companies.
